The first Subnational INFORM model for Caucasus and Central Asia was developed in 2017 by OCHA and the EC Joint Research Center for the Regional Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Task Force for Caucasus and Central Asia, and updated in 2021 by CESDRR in collaboration with UNDRR and with financial support from USAID BHA in September 2021. This second update of the model seeks to present risk in a more structured manner by dividing risk trends in the two regions of Central Asia and South Caucasus. The subnational INFORM Risk Index for Central Asia has been updated by UNDRR in collaboration with the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR) and the European Commission's Joint Research Center, with financial support from the European Union and USAID. The INFORM Subnational Risk Index supports decision-making on prevention, preparedness, and disaster response and is based on risk concepts published in scientific literature centered around three dimensions of risk: Hazards & Exposure, Vulnerability and Lack of Coping Capacity.
